Meet the Moms Team

Posted November 2025

NS Moms gathered on Nov. 22nd at Cyndi & Dennis Corbett’s home to celebrate 2025 achievements and to discuss future initiatives. Nova Scotia Moms for Collaborative and Compassionate Mental Health Care (NS Moms) is a grass roots group of 10 moms and parents of loved ones who are, or were, severely mentally ill. Moms rose up to say that their children's deaths were preventable, caused directly by unnecessary and outdated barriers and extremely disrespectful policies embedded within the NS health system. In short all Nova Scotian Moms are fearless defenders of their loved ones.

NS Moms is gathering these experiences to build a clearer picture of what is working, what is failing, and where policy and practice need to change. Many mothers report wanting to collaborate with clinicians — not to replace professional judgment, but to help ensure that crucial history, early warning signs, and day-to-day realities are part of the conversation.
