NSMoms attend the W.O McCormick Academic Day
The W.O McCormickAcademic Day is an annual event jointly sponsored by the Department of Psychiatry, the Nova Scotia Health Authority Central Zone Mental Health and Addictions Program, and Dalhousie Faculty of Medicine Continuing Professional Development. It features multiple speakers focused on a chosen theme, see Department of Psychiatry.
This occasion provided NSMoms with a great opportunity to network with many health care professionals, distribute their caregiver physician communication pamphlet and learn from a great lineup of speakers. Thanks to Dr. Jason Morrison for recognizing Moms work and success at achieving the recent amendment to the Nova Scotia Personal Health Information Act and related efforts to raise awareness on the importance of caregiver-clinician collaboration in the care treatment and recovery of loved ones with Severe Mental Illnesses.
We NSMoms look forward to a future academic day that may focuss on information, education and supports for caregivers as equal partners in the care of their adult children with severe mental illness.
