Why website metrics matter

Hits are much larger because they can include individual images, style sheets and other files loaded as part of displaying a page.
For NSMoms, the most important value of these statistics is the trend over time. Comparing months helps us see whether awareness and use of the website are growing and whether new resources, stories and advocacy information are attracting visitors.
